How Your CPG Brand Can Finish Well in 2023

 

Realizing we're heading into the final quarter of the year can be daunting (we certainly had a bit of a jump scare looking at the calendar today). But we have good news! While you can be shocked at how quickly the time flies when you're having fun, you don't have to stress about the looming end of year planning every CPG brand must undergo.

Yes, the holidays will be here before you know it, but you don't need to worry, because we're here with your EOY planning timeline to help you get your brand up to snuff for 2024. And if you start planning now, it'll be smooth sailing all the way to the ball drop.

 

Step 1: Audit your brand performance over the last 9 months

  • Take a look at all your key metrics. How have you been measuring performance for your brand year over year - share of voice, social engagement, revenue, call volume? Whatever it is, pull those numbers and lay 'em out as objectively as possible. Bring in your trusted stakeholders + contributors to weigh in on the work you've done so far this year.

  • Take a look at everything: what's worked, what hasn't, any surprises, etc. and use all this information to paint a picture of what your brand as a whole has accomplished in 2023. This can be a tough realization, or it can be a celebration of how much your hard work has paid off - either way, look at it all as a great learning opportunity.

 

Step 2: Start tweaking your strategy + looking for new opportunities

  • Maybe everything has worked swimmingly and your whole brand strategy is coming up roses, or maybe nothing has worked and you need to start from scratch. If the former, think of ways to build on what you've already done; if the latter, look for opportunities to try something new or revamp your strategy.

  • This is your chance to turn the tides for the remainder of the year, and it's not too late to finish strong. Take the good, learn from the bad, then leave the rest (after thoroughly cataloguing it for future reference).

 

Step 3: Take stock of where you want to go next year

  • These next three months can be business as usual, or it can be an onramp for your brand to get to bigger and better things next year. What do you want to accomplish next year? This could be anything from financial goals, to seeing your product in a major publication, to getting your brand mentioned by a celebrity. You may want to launch a new service line or product offering (which is something we may or may not be working on 😉). The sky is the limit.

  • If one of your goals is to launch your brand or brand refresh in 2024, but you haven't even started yet, now is the time to do it.
